Posted on August 21, 2009 by pogowasright.org

The Press Association reports that two people have been charged under the Data Protection Act following the leak of the British National Party membership list on the internet last year.

The BBC adds that the two are a man aged 27 and a woman aged 30 and that they were arrested in Brinsley, Nottinghamshire:

They have been charged under Section 55 of the Data Protection Act 1998, which makes it a criminal offence to “knowingly or recklessly obtain or disclose” personal information without consent.
