A Minnesota health system accused of using Meta Platforms Inc.’s Pixel tracking technology to profit off patient surveillance must face wiretapping claims, ruled a federal judge.
United State District Judge Katherine M. Menendez denied on Thursday North Memorial Health Care’s motion to dismiss wiretapping claims under the Electronic Communications Privacy Act and Minnesota Protection of Communications Act. Menendez sided with plaintiffs and rejected North Memorial’s argument that it’s exempt from liability under wiretapping claims because it was party to the intercepted website tracking data under dispute.
