Construction unions have taken court action to retrieve personal details of up to 18,000 workers collected by employers at the Wonthaggi desalination plant, in Victoria’s east.
The unions say the information collected by Thiess Degremont was passed on to the Tasmanian strike breaking contractor Bruce Townsend.
Bill Oliver from the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) says the information was handed on without the workers’ permission.
